Singer Crystal Bowersox brought an alternative vibe to the "American Idol" stage last season and the same was true of her Oct. 10 Chicago wedding to fellow musician and longtime friend Brian Walker.
The husky-voiced performer walked down the aisle in a floor-length, eco-friendly dress custom made from imported hemp by Vermont fashion designer Tara Lynn, who specializes in sustainable apparel made from natural fibers.
The singer's dress featured a detachable train embellished with macramé, seashells, and beads that Lynn tells StyleList she has been collecting since childhood. The bodice was accented with a floral blossom detail and (of course!) some light crystal embellishments.
"It was simple but beautiful, which was really perfect for Crystal," said Lynn, who calls Bowersox " a really easy-going, sweet girl."
Walker and Bowersox announced their engagement several weeks ago. They were married in a small, intimate ceremony in the nightclub where they first met, People reports.
The singer's 18-month-old son, Tony, her child from a previous relationship, served as ring bearer in a linen suit, the magazine reports.
Lynn, who doesn't watch television, tells StyleList she did not know who her celebrity client was when Bowersox first contacted her about making the wedding gown.
The singer flew to Lynn's solar-powered Sutton, Vt., studio Oct. 7 for a last-minute consultation and fitting. "My projects usually take a bit longer than this," says Lynn, "but she was working on a really tight schedule and we went for it."
The sustainable quality of Lynn's designs was what Bowersox had in mind for her bridal gown, the designer explains. "She told me she saw one of my dresses online, loved it, and called to talk about getting a dress," says Lynn. "When she got here I did recognize her because the only time I've ever seen 'American Idol,' she was on."
During Bowersox's two-day visit, "She was totally my ideal customer," Lynn says. "She was just chill, relaxed, and very happy and excited to be getting married and having this dress for her day."
The singer, who finished second on season 9 of "Idol," brought her guitar and regaled Lynn and her team with a song from her upcoming CD over breakfast.
Lynn, who studied fashion design at FIT, has been designing apparel since 1999.
While creating a dress for Bowersox was a coup, Lynn says the performer was "very typical" of her custom-bridal clients.
"They seek me out because they are attracted to the designs and my philosophy," she explains. "I like to work in fabrics that are sustainable and natural like hemp and silk and organic cotton. I sometimes work in vintage fabrics and some people find that really appealing."
Lynn recently made a wedding dress from old white eyelet curtains taken from the bride's New York City apartment. "She was on a tight budget, but we made her something really beautiful," the designer says.
Bowersox could easily wear her wedding dress again. "It's not too much and without the train, it has a casual, pretty, very comfortable feel," Lynn says. "We designed it so it would be very easy for her to walk around and enjoy being with her family and friends."
Lynn, meanwhile, is anxious to see the crooner and her groom in their wedding photos. "Are there any out yet?" she asks. "I can't wait to see."
Meanwhile, Bowersox, who is a diabetic, tweeted a request for wedding donations from fans go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund. She also made light of her marital status. "Officially mamasox," she tweeted, later correcting her own tweet to say, "I meant walkersox. Ha, ha, ha!!! That's hilarious."

Nicki Minaj has become the first female rapper to put seven songs on Billboard’s 100 in the same year, even though most tracks are guest appearances. And on Nielsen Soundscan’s 200 best-selling songs of 2010, Nicki's entries total 4,298,000 in sales.

Once police in Fort Walton Beach, Florida pulled over the 23-year-old for speeding, they found his 2008 Cadillac had no registration or insurance - but it did have a "cocked" pistol in the center console.
What's interesting is that Glen left the 49ers after a stellar rookie season to pursue a religious calling saying "[God] told me a long time ago to walk away from the game." Now nobody said the Lord's work was easy, but does it really require a "black 380 SIG Sauer automatic pistol?"
And according to the police report obtained by TMZ, the pistol was cocked to the rear and ready to be fired. Glen was arrested and booked for carrying a concealed firearm which is a 3rd degree felony.
No word yet on whether he posted bail...but we'll keep you posted. SMH.

Brazilian Blowout Hair-Straightening Under Fire for High Formaldehyde Levels

Well here's some news that has our hair standing on end.
The Brazilian Blowout hair-smoothing treatment is facing allegations that it contains high levels of formaldehyde, WWD reports.
The popular straightening process -- which StyleList recently road-tested -- is facing a backlash from salons and customers after lab results from the Oregon Health & Science University's Center for Research on Occupational and Environmental Toxicology indicated traces of the carcinogenic formaldehyde in its formula, according to the paper.
The tests -- which reportedly found between 4.85 and 10.6 percent formaldehyde -- were conducted in response to complaints at two Portland salons of eye irritation and nose burning.
Hmmm. Suddenly a little frizz doesn't seem so annoying.
Brazilian Blowout's CEO Mike Brady now claims to WWD that separate tests show the formula -- touted as formaldehyde free -- contains between .00049 and .49 percent of the chemical. A product must contain no more than .2 percent of formaldehyde to be deemed safe by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review, the source reports.
And because earlier tests reportedly showed lower levels, Brady is pointing the finger at manufacturer Cadiveu Brazil, which in turn, is accusing Brazilian Blowout of tampering with its formulas, according to WWD.
While some government agencies are now reportedly investigating the matter, some salons have scaled back their straightening services while taking safety precautions such as wearing masks or installing carbon filters.
Among those cancelling their Brazilian Blowout services are Manhattan's John Barrett Salon and Frédéric Fekkai salons, following disturbing test results conducted by Fekkai's parent company, Procter & Gamble.
"We wanted to make sure this product was living up to its claims," P&G spokesman Brent Miller told the paper.
"The product billed itself as formaldehyde free. Our testing showed that it contained high levels of formaldehyde and, as a result, we no longer offer the treatment."
Still, smooth, silky hair may trump safety concerns.
"The clients don't care," Dror Kradt of the Pierre Michel Salon, which still offers the service, albeit on a limited basis, revealed to WWD.
"They want it done. It is a life changer."

Folks are saying that the St. Louis rapper has had a sexual relationship with transsexual model Sidney Star (above). But now Chingy is saying the rumors are false.
“That’s some straight bull–.” I had a show like two years ago. I had a show with Ludacris [in] Chicago. There were some dancers on the stage and these dancers were on the stage through everybody’s show. The person [Star] asked me to take a picture and I took a picture. The boy, whatever it is, asked me to take a picture. I’m not up there checking to see if it’s [a boy or girl]. It looked like a woman. I’m not looking to see no neck check and all that. I’m taking a picture with a fan.”
Chingy continued:
“I’m not homophobic, I don’t know what this person is.” “If you a fan of Chingy, I’mma take a picture with you – You got this person that took pictures with not just me but with a few other celebrities. But for some reason, they want to single me out and make it out like I’m messing with this person, sleeping with this person.”
But, Star claims she had sex with Chingy two years ago after a show. Star says she was invited to a hotel room, she revealed her gender change, and Chingy said, “Nah, I still want that. I still want that.” Um, who says that??
And this isn’t the first time Chingy has been accused of having relations with transsexuals. Last year, transsexual rapper Foxxjazzel said she got it in with the rapper.

Rebecca Gayheart Is Out With Baby Billie
I think this is the first time I've seen Billie! Adorable! Don't you want to pinch those cheeks? Rebecca Gayheart was spotted out with the baby yesterday afternoon. They went to a private residence.
Can you make out Billie's personalized booties (click through the pictures below for a better look)? Too cute :) It looks like Rebecca is focused on being a full-time mom while Eric Dane is still busy with 'Grey's Anatomy.' As you other stay-at-home moms know, getting out is so important!

Lindsay Lohan Admits To Failing Drug Test
And THIS is why early discharges from rehab are generally a bad idea {sigh}. Lindsay Lohan confessed on twitter that she had, indeed, failed a drug test.
Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a result.
TMZ is now reporting that Lindsay actually failed two drug tests. In addition to landing her in jail, this setback could also further derail Lindsay's career, according to TMZ.
Lindsay is now relying on Judge Elden Fox to allow her to leave California to shoot "Inferno" in Louisiana and possibly fly to New York City for "Saturday Night Live."
Here's the problem. Sources connected with the case have been telling TMZ ... if Lindsay were to fail a drug test the judge would probably pull the plug on out-of-state-travel -- a privilege for Lindsay, not a right.
...But all bets are off now that Lindsay has flunked two tests.
And sources close to Lindsay somehow already know the big wigs on "Inferno" are pissed that she may have screwed up again, so flying to Louisiana may be a moot question.

Police brutality victim Rodney King snaped some "frolicking* pics this week with his new fiancee' Cynthia Kelley, who also happens to be one of the jurors responsible for awarding him his multi-million dollar compensation settlement.
The couple, who first laid eyes on one another across the courtroom in 1994, have recently rekindled their friendship, fallen in love and are planning their wedding. You can find love in the craziest of places.
Why these pics are pure hilarity to me, I don't know. But they are.

Survivor Nicaragua?s Jimmy T: ?If I provided a little lunacy I hope everyone enjoyed it.?
After entering an online Sears contest to become a Survivor, 49-year-old Gloucester, Mass., resident James "Jimmy T" Tarantino soon found himself voted onto the hit show. But after last night's tribal council, Jimmy T found himself voted out by his tribemates.
While Jimmy went into the game with intentions of going under the radar, his game soon changed after arriving in Nicaragua. ?I lot of distracting things went on,? Jimmy T tells In Touch, ?I went all-in physically and emotionally and that's not how you play the game.?
Throughout the game, Jimmy wanted to prove his worth in the challenges and be given a chance to shine, only to be thwarted by fellow Espada teammate Marty, who has been orchestrating the tribe to his advantage from the get-go. ?Losing those challenges was particularly hard for me,? explains Jimmy. ?Especially not being given a chance. If I had won a challenge, it might have changed the tribes dynamic and that would have changed things for Marty.?
With conditions at camp hitting rock-bottom following a thunderstorm, Jimmy?s attempts to bolster everyone?s spirits with song and dance were misinterpreted as annoying, and it soon became apparent his do-good attempt might be his undoing.
Still Jimmy is pleased with the game he played, though not so sure about how he was portrayed. ?I have no regrets,? he says. ?They make a great show and if I provided a little lunacy, I hope everyone enjoyed it. I was trying to be as helpful as I could ? that's all. Survivor is all about self-preservation and I have no resentment toward anyone. I wish everyone luck, especially those that were sincere and real. I'm cheering for Jane, she played with her heart and I hope she goes all the way.?

How do you feel in the garment? Lycra allows the denim to hug to your curves, which is a must have for me. These leggings passed my stretch test with flying colors.
How is the fit? The sales associates told me that most customers have to go up a size in order for achieve the right fit. These denim leggings flatter a petite frame.
How is the fabric? The fabric hugs my curves in all the right places. It is soft to the touch, I would be apprehensive about washing/drying.
Where would you wear them? I would feel comfortable dressing these leggings up or down. I can wear them to work and for them for a night out.
How would you accessorize them? I would wear them to the work with a slouchy cardigan and thigh-high boots, which is a perfect look for fall. I would also wear them for a night on the town with some fierce pumps, a tank, and a cropped blazer.
When you bend over, do they provide enough coverage? They receive a C on the butt crack test. They sit just on the crack line!
Would you buy them? I did purchase these leggings but will be returning them. I'm on a fitness regiment and it's not very encouraging to buy new clothes in a size up.

How do you feel? I feel fantastic in these pants! They stretch to fit perfectly in all the right places for my size 12 body.
How is the fit? As with any pair of jeggings, I find I have to be careful they don't draw too much attention to my midsection. I've got pretty generous hips.
How is the fabric? Pretty standard for stretch denim. I'd prefer them to be a little more durable and cotton-heavy in blend, but wouldn't want to sacrifice fit.
Where would you wear them? Everywhere casual clothing is appropriate.
How would you accessorize them? I'd wear them with flats or boots and a fairly blous-y top.
When you bend over, do they provide enough coverage? Thankfully yes!
Would you buy them? I not only bought a pair, I plan on wearing them immediately.

Personal style:Comfy and easy but stylish and current.
How do you feel? I have curvy legs which do not always look good in skinny styles. I went into the dressing room thinking they would highlight my thighs and cause me to look like I was wearing my daughter's clothes which would just be embarrassing. I was pleasantly surprised with the results.
How is the fit? I am typically a 6, but couldn't get them on, so I sized up and slid on the 8. They went on relatively easy and buttoned just fine. I actually thought they made me seem thinner than I actually was and did not seem to be pulling at all. I even did a glance at the backside and it didn't look so bad.
How is the fabric? I did think the fabric was a little bit scratchy, not super soft like I would prefer. Given the price point, I wasn't too concerned because I actually felt good in them.
Where would you wear them? I could throw on an off the shoulder sweater and silver flats and have a terrific date night outfit. I was comfortable enough in these to wear a shorter style top than a tunic length top, which is typically what I would prefer to wear with leggings.
How would you accessorize them? I would wear these with a long cardigan paired with a simple tank and ballet flats.
Do they provide enough coverage? I could bend down and not have my underwear exposed, which is almost unheard of anymore. I was surprised that I could bend over, move around freely and put my hands in my pockets with ease.
Would you buy them? Yes, I felt very confident with these on. I guess it really does show that in order to see what something really looks like, you should try it on.

Perhaps confirming this notion is the fact that mass retailer Old Navy has just released their own version for Fall 2010. (Even Goldman Sachs' back-to-school fashion guide decreed that "jeggings are one of this season's most covetable trends.")
Sure it looks good on supes like Gisele and Miss Moss, but what about real women? (You know, with the kind with hips and a butt and some divine curves?)
For our second test the trend segment of the month, we dispatched a group of women (some bloggers, some not), to head to their local Old Navy and shimmy their way into a pair of the Rock Star Super-Skinny Denim Leggings. Priced at a reasonable $39.50, these low-rise, slim-fitting wonders are a fall fashion trend that we can get behind without breaking the bank.
Our participants, who are of varying style and body types, reported back to StyleList with their thoughts on size, fit, and fabrication. Body type: I stand at 5"2 and I am proud of every inch.
Personal style: Vintage-inspired.
How do you feel in the garment? Lycra allows the denim to hug to your curves, which is a must have for me. These leggings passed my stretch test with flying colors.
How is the fit? The sales associates told me that most customers have to go up a size in order for achieve the right fit. These denim leggings flatter a petite frame.
How is the fabric? The fabric hugs my curves in all the right places. It is soft to the touch, I would be apprehensive about washing/drying.
Where would you wear them? I would feel comfortable dressing these leggings up or down. I can wear them to work and for them for a night out.
How would you accessorize them? I would wear them to the work with a slouchy cardigan and thigh-high boots, which is a perfect look for fall. I would also wear them for a night on the town with some fierce pumps, a tank, and a cropped blazer.
When you bend over, do they provide enough coverage? They receive a C on the butt crack test. They sit just on the crack line!
Would you buy them? I did purchase these leggings but will be returning them. I'm on a fitness regiment and it's not very encouraging to buy new clothes in a size up.

Personal style: Classic but also drawing from each season's new color and print motifs.
How do you feel? I feel fantastic in these pants! They stretch to fit perfectly in all the right places for my size 12 body.
How is the fit? As with any pair of jeggings, I find I have to be careful they don't draw too much attention to my midsection. I've got pretty generous hips.
How is the fabric? Pretty standard for stretch denim. I'd prefer them to be a little more durable and cotton-heavy in blend, but wouldn't want to sacrifice fit.
Where would you wear them? Everywhere casual clothing is appropriate.
How would you accessorize them? I'd wear them with flats or boots and a fairly blous-y top.
When you bend over, do they provide enough coverage? Thankfully yes!
Would you buy them? I not only bought a pair, I plan on wearing them immediately.

How do you feel? I have curvy legs which do not always look good in skinny styles. I went into the dressing room thinking they would highlight my thighs and cause me to look like I was wearing my daughter's clothes which would just be embarrassing. I was pleasantly surprised with the results.
How is the fit? I am typically a 6, but couldn't get them on, so I sized up and slid on the 8. They went on relatively easy and buttoned just fine. I actually thought they made me seem thinner than I actually was and did not seem to be pulling at all. I even did a glance at the backside and it didn't look so bad.
How is the fabric? I did think the fabric was a little bit scratchy, not super soft like I would prefer. Given the price point, I wasn't too concerned because I actually felt good in them.
Where would you wear them? I could throw on an off the shoulder sweater and silver flats and have a terrific date night outfit. I was comfortable enough in these to wear a shorter style top than a tunic length top, which is typically what I would prefer to wear with leggings.
How would you accessorize them? I would wear these with a long cardigan paired with a simple tank and ballet flats.
Do they provide enough coverage? I could bend down and not have my underwear exposed, which is almost unheard of anymore. I was surprised that I could bend over, move around freely and put my hands in my pockets with ease.
Would you buy them? Yes, I felt very confident with these on. I guess it really does show that in order to see what something really looks like, you should try it on.

Paris Hilton Accepts Plea Deal
Paris Hilton does it again. E! News reports that the celebutante has accepted a plea deal that includes pleading guilty to misdemeanor drug possession and obstructing an officer.
In return, she avoids being charged with felony cocaine possession and gets two consecutive six-month jail sentences suspended. Translation: Paris won't have to spend a night in jail.
"We fashioned a resolution which would give us complete control over her future," Clark County District Attorney David Roger told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "If she does not toe the line and stay out of trouble, she will do one year in the Clark County Detention Center."
Paris reportedly will enter her plea on Monday. She will be on probation for one year, have to complete a drug abuse program, pay a fine of $2000, and complete 200 hours of community service (brace yourself for those pictures- LOL).
Does this sound fair to you or do you want to see Paris serve some time? Honestly, I think you could stick Paris in jail for five years, and it wouldn't change a thing.

Post Your Face: I Have Boats Below My Eyes and Upper Cheekbones

The Patient's Question: Due to genes, I have these "boats" below my eyes and upper cheek bones. Family history tells me they will get worse over time. Taking these pictures I noticed that one eyelid seems to be fuller than the other. I've given up my contacts because of the eye boats simply because eyeglass frames cover them. I've finally come to terms that I'm 50 and don't even want to be 20 either in looks or age again. I've earned some of this! I'd like a little bit of me back. Also, being the mom of an 8-year-old I'm sick of being mistaken for her grandmother instead of her mom! Not interested in Botox or fillers.

Dr. Freund's Answer: I think the statement that puts it all into prospective is that you are "the mother of an 8-year-old." Whether you are 30 or 50 years old, everyone wants to look better. But when you are interacting with mothers that are 20 years younger, the age difference becomes magnified.
In looking at your photos, the features that standout include your heavy upper eyelids and flat irregular lower eyelids.
Your upper lids have redundant skin and if you look closely, it is quite clear that your left eyelid hangs a little lower than your right. The ideal treatment would be a blepharoplasty with correction of the asymmetry. In my region of the country, upper eyelid assymetry is routinely treated by oculoplastic surgeons (doctors who only specialize in deformities of the eyelids).
As for the lower eyelids, my favorite treatment is fat grafting. This is a procedure whereby I take fat from another area of your body (routinely the hip or belly) and place it under the eyelids and in the cheeks. With few exceptions, most people lose volume in there cheeks and midface as they age. Fat grafting is a natural way to correct volume loss. Newer techniques improve the long-term outcome and make the results softer and smoother. My favorite technique uses the Viafill system.
In the after photo, I have used the computer morphing program to show you what you could reasonably look like with an upper blepharoplasty and fat grafting to the lower eyelids, cheeks and nasolabial folds.

I see she has her off days and on days. I'll let you guess which one this one is. She hosted the boutique's opening with comic legend Paul Mooney.
And was later joined by her good friend Lil' B who also co-hosted the event. There's just so much going on here with these looks.
They posed with Rose Cordon, who opened La Scala on 125th street.
Kim kicked it with DJ Jazzy Joyce.
And artist and designer Noah G. Pop presented Lil' Kim with the portrait "Lil' Kim."
And down south in Miami, we caught the Miami Dolphins Orange Carpet Celebrity Arrivals. Only Miami would have a laid-out carpet for celebs to arrive to a football game:
Miss Kelly Rowland performed the National Anthem.

Then hitting the orange carpet.
Not sure who her stylist is, but she always looks great. And bravo for the three outfit changes done right.

And British R&B singer Craig David showed the paps that he also has a "Situation."
And of course you can't have an event in Miami and not have Rick Ross there. In sweats. Can't decide if he's too dressed down or if everybody else is just too dressed up.

That's what three women highlighted in this month's More magazine say their stories illustrate -- that like fine wine, life matures into a richer and more satisfying blend. The women -- Shelley Goodstein of Arizona, Rhonda Smith of Florida and Colleen Scholer of Iowa -- are all winners of More's 2010 Beauty Search.

But unlike your typical bikini-baring and tiara-crowning beauty contest full of tears, More's version searched the nation for readers who look and feel their finest in their later years. Beauty director Genevieve Monsma was one of several More staffers who pored over the more than 2,000 entries in order to pick the final three. According to Monsma, essays ranged the gamut from hilarious to harrowing, with tales of obstacles overcome and dreams born and lived. Yet in spite of the very different stories, one over-arching theme was clear; more than ever, women feel their peak years of enjoyment are reaching far into their golden years.
"Women well into their 60's wrote in and said that life just keeps getting better. They know what works, can afford better clothes and beauty treatments and eat healthier and higher quality food," Monsma told StyleList on set at the winner photo shoot. "There are so many who start a chapter two to their lives after their kids grow up, when they focus on themselves and do all the things they've always wanted to do."
StyleList exclusively joined the three winners for their October cover shoot, where we were amazed by stories of cancer conquered and success through the stress of single motherhood -- all survived and marked by reinventions that left the ladies looking and feeling better than before.
Just five years ago, grand prize winner Shelley Goodstein was in the middle of a messy divorce and jobless with three young children while managing diabetes without health insurance. With the steadfast support of friends, Goodstein landed a job as a pharmaceutical sales rep, which put her on the path to meeting her future husband -- a doctor who is nine years her junior.
The couple fell in love, married, and Goodstein set out to accomplish a dream she has always had: to become an author. That's when the More beauty contest became a serendipitous discovery.
"I was doing online research for a beauty book I'm writing for women when I bumped into the More contest and signed up," said Goodstein. "I can't believe this has happened. Now I want to use my prize money to get this book published!"
Among her best beauty advice for women over 40, self-described sunscreen addict says to look for products that are specifically formulated for your new needs and concerns. Just because it has worked for you the past 20 years doesn't mean it's the best product for what you're using now.

Monsma agrees -- and says that adding what your skin may now be lacking should be the primary goal of both your skin and makeup routines. "Look for products that moisturize at every stage. You want dewy, creamy makeup products. Stay away from thick powders and matte finishes," advises Monsma.
"When applying blush, don't go for the apple of the cheek because it lowers with age. Instead, apply blush on the top of the cheekbone for a lift," advises Monsma.
Yet it wasn't the beauty tricks that lured Goodstein's younger husband in, according to the doctor -- whose tall, dark and handsome looks may sound like a cliché -- but we swear it's the only accurate way to describe him.
"I've never thought of her as an older woman," the 37 year-old told us when asked what he finds most attractive about older women. "But what's fun -- and definitely the sexiest -- is that she knows what she wants."
First place winner Rhonda Smith was enjoying a manicure and the makeup works when she told us about her previous life as an MBA who jammed in 12 to 14 hour days traveling the country to provide consulting services when a stage one breast cancer diagnosis hit. After two surgeries and rounds of radiation and chemo, a cancer-free Smith realized her priorities and quality of life would forever be changed.
"Cancer was one of the best things happened to me. It made me look at my life differently and focus on putting myself first and creating a healthy lifestyle," Smith told StyleList.
Now the creator of breastcancerpartner.com -- a site dedicated to helping women transition back to everyday life after cancer -- Smith says her active lifestyle has her getting more compliments than ever before. "I don't really wear makeup, maybe a little foundation and eyeliner. I find that what really makes the difference is eating organic food, doing a cleansing detox, and taking the time to recover, restore and re-energize -- which is what I teach cancer survivors to do," said Smith.
Meanwhile, an effusively vibrant and smiling Colleen Scholer sat nearby setting in a head full of pin curls -- and we assumed the leggy and svelte blonde surely must be a professional model. But the mom of three says she was an awkward duckling before turning swan-like after the age of 40.
"People would call me the 'tall giraffe girl.' All those things I hated when I was younger -- my oily skin, my long, lanky limbs -- have turned out to be advantages in older age," said Scholer. "My skin has a sheen to it when so many others are dry, and let's just say long legs age well!"
The one beauty challenge the midwesterner did overcome was the all too-common menopausal symptom of drying, brittle hair. Scholer swears by Neil George's Indian Gooseberry Oil, which she works through wet hair and then rubs the extra drops onto the back of hands for healing hydration.
And while the sometime-publicist says she can't live without Bobbi Brown's lip balm, she says the greatest beauty secret of all is your state of mind.

"Stay passionate and interesting to the family and friends around you -- you can always be relevant whether you have wrinkles or not," says Scholer. "This is a time period where women can celebrate their energy, accomplishments and greater comfort in being who you are. It's extremely beautiful."
That's the sense we got from spending an afternoon with the enlivened trio, who were all glowing from the thrill of being pampered and photographed on a professional shoot that was one of the most glamorous moments in their lives -- proms and weddings included.
And when Scholer waved her cell phone in front of our face to excitedly show us the text message her kids had sent that morning from Iowa, we couldn't agree more.

It was a room full of stilettos and skirt suits at New York's Waldorf Astoria hotel on Friday, when top execs came together to award the best and brightest in the beauty business.
The 2010 Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) Achiever Awards honored Procter & Gamble's Alex Keith, Clinique's Janet Pardo, Mark's Claudia Poccia, Carol's Daughter Lisa Price and Coty Prestige's Lori Singer for careers that have blazed strong leadership trails while leaving the world a little more moisturized and glossy.
"I'm not special. I was not born with a lot of money. I'm just an average woman who listened to the universe when it told me to believe in myself," Price was quoted as saying in an introduction led by HSN CEO Mindy Grossman. The founder of the skincare and bath line also attributes her marriage to the success of her products. "She says that wearing her almond cookie scent is what prompted her husband to propose," added Grossman.
Credited with contributing to the growing male grooming trend, Keith launched the successful Old Spice bath and body line in 2002, and is now vice president of P&G. "Who knew ten years ago that men would use body wash?" Keith asked the chuckling audience, who were munching on chicken salad and layered strawberries 'n cream desserts. Now that the men's grooming sector has exploded with competition, Keith says, "Competition only makes me better."
Secrets to making your work a place you're excited and inspired to go to were also shared. "It's ok to be friends with the people you work with, it's the key to a happy heart," said Pardo, senior vice president of global product development at Clinique. "Balancing family and career is always a work in progress, but be present in the moment where ever you are, and make it count," added Poccia, global president of Avon's mark brand.
Singer agrees that a community mentality is a must to succeed as a woman business leader. "It takes a team. Surround yourself with great people. Take charge of your own career and embrace change. You'll be pleasantly surprised by what it can bring," advises the group vice president of global marketing at Coty Prestige, which currently licenses fragrance brands like Marc Jacobs, Gwen Stefani and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Giuliana Rancic gets in touch with breast health ? on video!
Giuliana Rancic is a very hands-on advocate of breast cancer awareness! The E! News hostess teamed up with Bright Pink's Lindsay Avner and Orbit White Gum to show fans how to monitor their breast health in a ?Treasure Your Chest? tutorial. ?We?re going to get to second base on ourselves!? Giuliana laughs in the video, as the national nonprofit organization?s founder, Lindsay, teaches her the right way to check her lady lumps. The brunette beauty, who has publicly discussed her battle with infertility alongside husband Bill, also discloses another secret ? she recently had a breast health scare! ?I had this itch in my breast that wouldn?t go away. I was so scared. Bill was like, 'The only way you?ll stop obsessing over this is to go to the doctor.' Here's Melyssa Ford's 'official statement' regarding ESSENCE Magazine:
Let me begin by saying that like millions of other black women of my generation, I grew up on ESSENCE magazine. Throughout my life, it has served as a platform to celebrate women of color, committed to showing our beauty by our own standards. I know my candid criticism of the publication by my over use of profanity may have diluted my message, but in all honesty, I believed that I was speaking off the record and having "coffee table talk" with an old friend, who happened to be my former assistant, hence my uncensored frankness on the topic at hand.
However, I stand by my comments about black publications such as ESSENCE needing to be more careful about the messages they are sending. Suggesting that black women are responsible for keeping their men faithful is antiquated. The greater issue is about the pressure that we as African American women feel to perform above the level of expectation to keep a man happy and at home, as if a spousal union isn't based on any kind of reciprocal action. Is there as much of a focus towards black men on how to keep us happy? No, but numerous studies and features are written about 'Angry Black Women Syndrome' and the finger is clearly pointed in our direction as if to say we are the direct or indirect cause of why black men stray. This isn’t the sort of story I remember reading in the Essence of old - the very pages that made me and so many other women proud to be brown.
There's a reason black publications like ESSENCE Magazine have stood strong for decades. I simply wish to be able to one day hear my own children speak with the same fondness of black publications as I did growing up.
